Basal Evolution Weekly Challenge #15

Good evening everyone! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! Yet again, I am slacking on the Basal Challenge!

These days are flying by- it is crazy!

The Basal Evolution Challenge for Week #15 is to think about the shampoo and conditioners you are using. This may not be for everyone. Some people have a serious relationship with their shampoo and conditioner, despite the ingredients.  If that is you, please do not continue reading. 🙂

I am still in the “evolving” thought/product process. Trying new things here and there. I do believe that some of the things found in hair products has the potential to be harmful- as anything we put on our body is being absorbed into our body! Not only do we have to be concerned about our body, but also the waste products we are sending into the earth from our shower drain.  I will write more about specifics later in the week….however, here is a quick run down of some ingredients others have recommended to avoid.

From this website, these are some ingredients to avoid in your shampoo or conditioners.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Sodium Myreth Sulfate

Sodium Laurel Sulfate

Cocamidopropylbetaine

Parabens

Fragrance

Cocamide MEA

Triethanolamine (TEA)

Ammonium Laureth Sulfate

Ammonium Laurel Sulfate

Luckily, it is becoming increasingly easier to find products without these ingredients.  Here is a short list from Ulta’s website.

Sulfate free- http://search.ulta.com/cosmetics/Sulfate%20Free%20Shampoo

Paraben free- http://search.ulta.com/cosmetics/Paraben%20Free%20Shampoo

Organic/Natural hair products-http://www.harpersbazaar.com/beauty/hair-articles/best-natural-hair-products

Again, more to come!

Cheers and happy evolving! 🙂 See this link for further details on the Basal Evolution Challenge!
