Basal Evolution Challenge Week #19

Happy New Year! It is so crazy this challenge is almost over! I hope that everyone’s new year brings beautiful memories, stupendous health, and great love.

The Basal Evolution Challenge for Week #19 is to check the ingredients labels. Obviously, the best foods are the ones without an ingredient list.  You can see the difference between a “bad” ingredient list and a “good” ingredient list, below.

In the event you do purchase packaged/processed items (because sometimes I just need an Oatmeal Cream Pie):

Try to avoid the following:

  1. Artificial Flavorings
  2. Artificial Colorings
  3. Artificial Sweeteners
  4. High Fructose Corn Syrup
  5. MSG
  6. Vegetable Oil, Shortening, Hydrogenated Oils
  7. Bleached Flour

Note: I am pretty sure Oatmeal Cream Pies contain all of the above. 🙂 But everyone needs to indulge occasionally. 

An easy rule of thumb to live by: if you can’t pronounce it or if your grandparents wouldn’t recognize it, you probably shouldn’t be eating it 🙂
